The AL West 2026 division market flipped in seven days.
On July 27, 2026, Houston traded at 19c on Kalshi and 17c on Polymarket. Both books now print 47c, and the contract touched 49c intraday on August 3, 2026. That is a 30 point swing in a week on a $1.56M board, and two independent exchanges made it in the same direction at the same magnitude.
Texas went the other way, from 41c on Kalshi and 40c on Polymarket down to 22c and 27c. Seattle slid from 46c and 40c to 35c and 29c. Two order books with different traders and different fee structures repriced an entire division by the same amount in the same week. That is conviction, not thin book noise.
The move is directionally right and slightly ahead of the evidence. Houston earned first place. Houston has not earned separation.
AL West 2026 Odds Today: Houston 47c After a 30 Point Week
| Team | Kalshi | Polymarket | Board price |
| Houston Astros | 47c | 47c | 47c |
| Seattle Mariners | 35c | 29c | 32c |
| Texas Rangers | 22c | 27c | 24.5c |
| Los Angeles Angels | 1c | 0c | 0.5c |
| Athletics | 1c | 0c | 0.5c |
The interesting number is not 47c. It is the zero. Kalshi and Polymarket agree to the cent on Houston, then disagree by 6c on Seattle and 5c on Texas. The books have reached consensus on the leader and are still arguing about who is second.
The three contenders price at 103.5c combined. The Angels and Athletics sit at 0.5c each, which is the market's way of saying this has been a three team race for a month.
Why the AL West 2026 Market Repriced: Six Wins, Two Sweeps, One Lead Change
Houston has won six straight and 11 of its last 12. Through games of August 2, 2026, the Astros are 58-55, in first place, 2.5 games clear of Texas and 3.0 clear of Seattle.
On July 26, 2026, they were 52-55, in third place, 2 games back. Texas led the division at 53-52.
The six wins came in two sweeps. Houston took three at the Angels on July 27, 28 and 29 by scores of 6-4, 3-2 and 7-4. It then swept Texas at home on July 31, August 1 and August 2 by 11-2, 5-4 and 7-3. Texas arrived in Houston in first place and left in second having lost five in a row.
What Houston did not do is buy. The Astros were sellers into the deadline. They traded Lance McCullers Jr. to Milwaukee on July 15 and Nate Pearson to Kansas City on July 22, then made no trades at all between July 23 and August 3.
The reinforcements came off the injured list instead. Hayden Wesneski was activated from the 60 day IL on July 29 following elbow surgery and won that day, going 5.2 innings with 3 earned runs and 4 strikeouts. Cristian Javier, back from a shoulder strain since July 3, threw 5 shutout innings with 7 strikeouts on July 27. Jeremy Peña returned July 10 and carries a 14 game hitting streak at a .322 average.
Yordan Alvarez is the engine. He leads all of baseball with 35 home runs, leads the American League with 84 RBI, and leads the AL in OPS at 1.092. Second place in AL OPS is .931. He went 4 for 5 with three doubles on August 2. Peter Lambert has anchored the rotation at 8-5 with a 3.06 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP, and Josh Hader has a 1.17 ERA with 15 saves.
Houston Astros AL West 2026 Odds: What 47c Gets Right and What It Skips
47c is a fair price for a team in first place with 49 games left. It is a rich price for this particular first place team.
Houston's run differential is -27. A division leader who has been outscored is not disqualified over 162 games, but it is the number that separates a hot stretch from a good team. The Astros are three games over .500, carry a 4.65 team ERA with a 1.38 WHIP, and hit .245 as a club.
The six wins also came against the two opponents best suited to provide them. The Angels are 43-69 and 18-36 on the road. Texas showed up mid slide.
What 47c gets right is real. Houston has the best hitter in the league, a rotation that is finally healthy, and the schedule leverage of a season series against Texas already banked at 9-4.
Seattle Mariners AL West 2026 Odds: 32c on the Division's Only Positive Run Differential
Seattle is 55-58 and three games back, and Seattle is the only team in the division with a positive run differential at +3. Houston is -27. Texas is -36.
The Mariners are 32-24 at home and 23-34 on the road. That split, not the talent, is why they are third with the best underlying numbers in the group. They went 4-6 over their last ten and have won two straight after taking a pair from Minnesota on August 1 and 2.
At 32c, Seattle is the value side of this board. The reason is on the schedule, and it is below.
Texas Rangers AL West 2026 Odds: 24.5c With No Games Left Against Houston
Texas is 55-57 and 2.5 back after five straight losses. Two came at Tampa Bay on July 29 and 30. Three came in Houston.
The structural problem is worse than the standings. Texas finished its season series with Houston at 4-9. There are no head to head games remaining. The Rangers cannot beat Houston again this year. They can only wait for other teams to do it.
That is why 24.5c is defensible despite Texas holding a better record than Seattle. Texas needs Houston to lose games Texas does not control. Seattle needs Houston to lose to Seattle, and Seattle has five chances left.
The 5c gap between Kalshi at 22c and Polymarket at 27c is the widest cross platform disagreement on the board.
When the AL West 2026 Division Market Resolves
The contract carries a resolution date of November 1, 2026 and settles on the final regular season standings. Houston has 49 games left to play.
What Moves AL West 2026 Odds Next: Five Games Houston Has Not Won
Houston plays Seattle five more times. Three at home on August 14, 15 and 16, then two in Seattle on September 22 and 23.
Houston is 1-7 against Seattle this season. The two teams have not met since May 14, 2026, which means none of the six game streak and none of the 11-1 stretch touched the one opponent that has owned the Astros all year.
That is the entire trade. Houston at 47c is priced on six games against the Angels and the Rangers. The next real test is against a team that has beaten it seven times in eight tries, and the market has that team at 32c.
Catalysts to watch:
- Houston vs Seattle, August 14 to 16:** The first meeting since May 14, 2026, in a season series Seattle leads 7-1.
- Houston's run differential:** -27 for a first place club. If it is still negative at the end of August, 47c was too high.
- Yordan Alvarez availability:** 35 home runs and a 1.092 OPS with nothing comparable behind him in the order.
- Seattle's road record:** 23-34 away from home is the only thing keeping a +3 run differential team at 32c.
- The 6c book split on Seattle:** Kalshi at 35c, Polymarket at 29c. Whichever side converges shows where size is landing on the second place argument.
