The Kalshi ladder on Chicago prices a 9.7-win season for 2026, and that is still a win too high. The Bears went 11-6, won the NFC North, took the 2 seed and hosted a divisional round game. They did it on the back of the most mean-reverting number in football. Take the turnover luck out of that 11-6 and what is left is an 8-to-9 win team walking into a harder schedule.
The Bears Win Total Ladder Prices Chicago at 9.7 Wins
| Rung | Kalshi | Implied | 24h volume |
| 8+ wins | 75c | 75% | $17 |
| 9+ wins | 63c | 63% | $442 |
| 10+ wins | 49c | 49% | $869 |
| 11+ wins | 37c | 37% | $142 |
| 12+ wins | 28c | 28% | $3.1K |
| 13+ wins | 18c | 18% | $1 |
| 14+ wins | 11c | 11% | $0 |
Every rung pays at *at least* that many wins, so 10+ at 49c settles yes if Chicago finishes 10-7 or better. Add all 17 rungs and the ladder's expected value is 9.67 wins. The 50% crossing sits between 9+ at 63c and 10+ at 49c, the equivalent of a 9.5-win line with the over at 49c.
This is a one-book market. Polymarket does not list NFL team win totals, so the full $99.4K of lifetime volume here is Kalshi money. Over the last 24 hours the ladder traded $4.6K, and $3.1K of that, 68% of the day's flow, went to 12+ at 28c. Today's money is buying the ceiling, not the coin flip.
The two-platform read sits one board over. On the 2026 NFC North Division odds, a $448K market, Chicago is 25c on Kalshi and 24c on Polymarket while Detroit is 35c and 36c. The books agree, and they agree the defending champion is the third choice in its own division.
The Turnover Margin That Built the Bears Win Total Case
Chicago finished 2025 at plus 22 in turnover differential, first in the NFL. That came from 33 takeaways, also first, against 11 giveaways. The defense picked off 23 passes, first in the league. Caleb Williams threw 7 interceptions on 568 attempts, a 1.22% interception rate that also led the league.
That is not a knock on the team, it is a knock on the repeatability. Chicago was plus 8 in 2024 and plus 3 in 2023, going 5-12 and 7-10. The plus 22 is a spike, not a trend line, and the base rate is unkind. ESPN's Bill Barnwell, writing August 25, found that teams at plus 20 or better lose more than 19 takeaways on average the next season, and that 20 of 21 won fewer games. Chicago also recovered 66.7% of the fumbles in its games, the highest rate in the league. Since 1990, 23 teams have hit a 65% recovery rate and all 23 failed to repeat it.
The score sheet agrees. Chicago scored 441 points, ninth in the NFL, and allowed 415. A plus 26 differential is a nine-win Pythagorean profile over 17 games. They won 11, going 7-4 in one-score games after 3-7 in those spots in 2024.
Caleb Williams and the Efficiency Gap Under the Bears Win Total
Williams completed 330 of 568 for 3,942 yards, 27 touchdowns and 7 interceptions with a 90.1 rating and a 58.2 QBR. The touchdown-to-interception ratio is excellent. The completion rate is not: 58.1% individually, and Chicago's 58.2% as a team ranked 31st. At 6.9 yards per attempt, this passing game stayed out of trouble rather than consistently moving the ball.
Ben Johnson gets credit for the part that should hold. Williams was sacked 24 times in 2025 after taking 68 sacks in 2024. Scheme and protection fixes carry over in a way fumble bounces do not.
The timing should not hold. Barnwell's same piece has Williams 20th in Total QBR through three quarters and third best from the fourth quarter on. That split is the statistical cousin of a one-score-game record. Both describe a season, neither predicts one.
Why 10+ Is the Wrong Side of the Bears Win Total at 49c
The read here is that 8.5 wins is the honest number and the ladder is asking for 9.7. Buying no on the 10+ rung near 51c is the cleanest expression of it, and 9+ at 63c is the same trade with a thinner margin.
The stack is simple. The plus 26 point differential is a nine-win team, and that differential was itself inflated by 33 takeaways and the short fields they produced. Regress the turnover margin toward league average and the differential and the win total fall together. None of this requires Chicago to get worse. It requires the ball to stop bouncing their way.
The 2026 Schedule Argues Against the Bears Win Total Too
Chicago's 2026 opponents went a combined 158-129-2 in 2025, a .550 winning percentage. Four won 12 or more games: New England 14-3, Seattle 14-3, Jacksonville 13-4 and Buffalo 12-5. Philadelphia at 11-6 visits Week 3 on a Monday night.
The back half is the problem. Jacksonville at home December 6, then Miami, then Buffalo on December 19, then Green Bay on Christmas, then Detroit at home and Minnesota on the road. Three division games in the final three weeks, with the bye already spent in Week 10.
One number complicates the whole résumé: Chicago went 2-4 inside the NFC North last season and still won it. A division title built on the 11 games outside the division is not a durable edge when six of the 17 come back around.
The Case That the Bears Win Total Is Too Low
There is a real one. Ben Johnson is in year two, Williams is in year three, and Colston Loveland and Luther Burden III enter their second seasons alongside Rome Odunze. Chicago rushed for 2,456 yards at 144.5 per game, third in the NFL, and converted 42.7% of its third downs, seventh. That is a functioning offense, not a turnover-fueled illusion.
The front office kept adding. March brought Jedrick Wills Jr., Coby Bryant, Devin Bush, Neville Gallimore and Kalif Raymond, then James Lynch and Jack Sanborn. August added Marcus Davenport, Xavier Woods, Beanie Bishop Jr. and Ray-Ray McCloud III. Tremaine Edmunds was released in March and center Drew Dalman went on the reserve/retired list, so the churn cuts both ways. If Williams takes the third-year step, 11 or 12 wins is live in a division where nobody is priced above 35.5c to win it. That is the case the 12+ rung at 28c is making, and it is where today's volume went.
How the Bears Win Total Settles on January 18, 2027
The contract settles on Chicago's final regular-season win total across the 17-game schedule, listed resolution date January 18, 2027. Each rung is an independent binary: 12+ pays only at 12 or more wins, and buying no on 10+ pays at nine or fewer. The season opens at Carolina on September 13, 2026 and ends at Minnesota in Week 18. Kalshi is the only venue listing it.
What Moves the Bears Win Total Before Week 1
- Left tackle: Ben Johnson called the spot "a hot spot" on August 25, with Braxton Jones, Theo Benedet, Kiran Amegadjie and Jedrick Wills Jr. still competing 19 days out from Carolina.
- Ozzy Trapilo's knee: the 2025 second-round tackle is limited to individual drills after rupturing his patellar tendon in the January playoff win over Green Bay.
- Kyle Monangai: Johnson called the running back week-to-week on August 18, thinning the group behind D'Andre Swift.
- Darnell Wright and Luther Burden III: both got positive injury news on August 26, which matters far more to the over case than any preseason score.
- Division drift: if Detroit's 35.5c on the division board climbs, this ladder follows it down.
Where the Bears Win Total Sits in the NFC North
The four ladders in this division imply Detroit at 10.85 wins, Green Bay at 9.79, Chicago at 9.67 and Minnesota at 9.17. Detroit finished 9-8 and missed the playoffs. Chicago finished 11-6 and won the division. The market has already reversed them, correctly.
The rest of the board agrees more quietly. Chicago is 3.5c on the Super Bowl LXI Champion odds, a $119.8M market, and the NFC Championship 2026-27 odds treat the Rams as the class of the conference. Anyone who wants the bullish side of Chicago gets more leverage fading the Green Bay Packers 2026 win total odds or buying the division contract than paying 49c for a rung. The full slate is at Chicago Bears prediction markets.
Eleven wins happened. This ladder asks whether it happens again, and 9.7 is the market coming most of the way. Not far enough.
